When Janice was in high school, she had achieved a reputation as an individual who studied much of the time and who rarely, if ever, “painted the town red” by drinking with her pals. She seemed nearly obsessed about doing well academically so that she would be able to find a career that she not only benefited from but one that also gave her some security from a financial perspective.
After much deliberation, finally she came to a decision that she wanted to be a lawyer. In order to reach this goal, nevertheless, she would first have to complete four years of undergraduate education.
After Finishing High School Janice Gets Accepted Into An Illustrious Undergrad University as a Foundation For a Career as a Lawyer
After Janice completed high school, she applied to and was accepted into a famous program in sociology. Her rationale for this decision was that this subject area would be good preparation for law school and wouldn’t be identical to the majority of law school applicants who elect to choose political science as their undergraduate major.
After graduating with a 3.65 GPA at the undergraduate level, she applied to and was accepted at a famous law school at one of the Big Ten universities.
She enjoyed her legal studies but from time to time she was “up to her ears” with all the work that law school entailed. Akin to the way in which she handled herself in her high school and undergraduate days, nevertheless, she made buddies effortlessly but scarcely took part in social activities until the quarter had ended.

Janice was the kind of individual who worked thoroughly to reach her goal and then would take a rest when she could. As it turns out, nevertheless, most of the things she did between terms or during her summer vacations did not involve drinking. Clearly, Janice was anything but a party-girl. Now that her final examinations for her second year in law school were finished and feeling proud of the fact that she had done very well on her finals, however, she wanted to let her hair down and have some fun.

So Janice and some of her classmates went to a local club where they started to have a few drinks. As the hours passed, Janice persisted in drinking without having a care in the world about exams or class the following day. As a matter of fact, Janice revealed to her pals how nice it was to party with her buddies from school.
As the evening went by, Janice and her friends continued to drink. In actual fact, she was having such a splendid time that she didn’t want the night to come to an end. It was almost as if she was making up for lost time and making an attempt to force a year’s worth of fun and laughter into a single evening. Such a “game plan,” however, rarely works. In fact, when Janice went to the restroom and threw up, her buddies started to get anxious about her health.
About thirty minutes later when Janice started to slur her words, speak in a confused manner, and then become unconscious, nevertheless, her pals promptly realized that they needed to call 911 and ask for medical assistance because they thought that Janice was exhibiting alcohol poisoning symptoms.
Once Janice was in the drug and alcohol rehab hospital, the head physician validated what her buddies had suspected, that is to say, that Janice ingested far more alcohol than her body could handle and, consequently, she experienced an alcohol overdose.
After the emergency room treatment team pumped her stomach until no gastric contents were evident, Janice was wheeled to the recovery room. After staying around six hours in recovery, Janice was then moved to one of the regular hospital rooms. Fortunately, the worst was over and all of her vital signs were back to normal.
In response to Janice’s situation, her buddies caringly called her parents. As a result, early the next day, her parents and her best buddies went to the hospital to visit Janice.
Janice Comes an Inch From Losing Her Life, is Pleased to be Alive, and Promises to Never Again Drink in an Abusive and Irresponsible Manner
Janice was very aware that she had dodged a bullet and, as a consequence, was happy to be alive. Her Mother and Father realized how intensely she worked in graduate school and how little she let herself socialize with her friends. Nevertheless, they also realized that Janice needed to keep away from irresponsible drinking.
As a result, they recommended that in the future, whenever a drinking circumstance develops, that she always drink in moderation and responsibly. Janice was fine with this and assured her friends and her Mom and Dad that she would never again drink in an abusive manner. In Janice’s own words, “I never had an inkling that I would become one of the alcohol abuse and alcoholism statistics in the local newspaper. I now know that irresponsible and abusive drinking is not for me. I assure everyone that this will never happen again.”
Fortunately, Janice was not only “book smart” but she also possessed common sense. In other words, she quickly comprehended that she had made an error in judgment and decided that she would never make the same error again. Indeed, she now understood that she had involved herself in “binge drinking” and that even one instance of this form of abusive drinking can end in a loss of life.
